Another tally mark in the long list of "things I don't know how my wife does", Jen gave birth to our fourth child and third little girl.

We were admitted at 7:30 Tuesday morning to Lake Forest hospital and seemed to make little progress extending through to early afternoon.

3:00pm = 3 centimeters
4:00pm = 4 centimeters

A quick check around 4:30 and Jen was at a 7. Within 2 minutes she insisted they look again because something big was happening. "Oh, there's the head." the nurse announced and both the room and staff around us transformed fashion and function to deliver a baby. Dr. Huang (pronounced Wong), as matter of factly as we had become accustomed to with Dr. David, took her position and she and Jen talked through all of two and a half pushes before we had another heartbeat in the room. Elena Lauren had arrived at 4:43pm on Veterans day. As Aunt Kate pointed out "...she'll never get a birthday card in the mail on her actual birthday..." but our jump from family of 5 to family of 6 is a HUGE blessing.
