Back in the day, (which was a Wednesday if anyone asks) Jen and Uncle Dan had a tradition of setting up a full out restaurant when their parents were out. They threw together a meal with whatever they had on hand, got into character and greeted their guests upon arrival with food, drink and entertainment (with little regard to the hour or whether they had eaten or not). They dubbed this establishment "Starlight Cafe".
Fast forward 15-20 years:
We returned from our family visit at Dan and Mandi's house to find the front door emblazoned with the Starlight Cafe title. The door was opened and it was explained to us that the previous owners had moved on to other projects and other parts of the country. Starlight Cafe was now under new ownership and a new location but that it's dedication to fine family dining and entertainment had been carried over. Drink features including "breast milk" rounded out an appetizing menu. Service with a smile from our host and hostess "Daniel" and "Polly", complete with magic show had the kids cracking up in disbelief that they were not breaking character. What a great continuation of a tradition. The seed has been planted. Could there be an Illinois franchise in the future?
