You never know when you have two kids so close in age whether they will embrace each other as friends for more reasons than lack of a better option. We find CJ and Maddie on a daily basis cuddling, reading to each other, making up games, wrestling or planning some sort of naughtiness or treat theft. The friendship perception is solidified when one goes to bat for the other when he/she gets in trouble, even if it is for a wrong against the other.
